Basic Information:
The Ciénaga Grande de Santa Marta is the largest lagoon complex in Colombia, in which the waters of the Magdalena rivers, other tributaries that descend from the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta and the Caribbean Sea mix.
For many years, the inhabitants of neighboring villages used to go there to fish and the long tasks led them to go deeper and spend more time there. Over time they began to settle within the swamp, building what are known as palafitos, which are houses on stilts in shallow areas of water. These towns were in the midst of the armed conflict in the region and today they are a sign of resilience and regeneration of the social fabric.

Day 1
Our trip begins by leaving Santa Marta to the Pueblo Viejo Tourist Parador, where we will board a motorized boat that will take us to Buena Vista, one of the 3 stilt towns that inhabit the area. During this journey of approximately 1 hour through the swamp we will be able to see birds and the natives doing their fishing work. Upon arrival we will get to know the place and we will have a cultural sample from the community that receives us. At the end, we will move to Nueva Venecia where we will settle in and enjoy a delicious lunch typical of the region. We will have the opportunity to appreciate a beautiful sunset, which merges with the waters of the swamp and the houses of the inhabitants. craft.
Day 2
For our second day, we will leave very early in the morning to take a tour of the Ciénaga Grande de Santa Marta where we will carry out different activities such as bird watching, a day of artisanal fishing. We will do this tour in canoes with levers and oars.
