Events that you will find in the International Joropo Tournament 2019

The International Joropo Tournament is the largest festival in the eastern plains and one of the most patrimonial fairs and festivals in Colombia of all those held in the country. This party that is celebrated in the city of Villavicencio, Meta has a great national and international reception for showing the beautiful and characteristic  "cultura llanera".

The International Joropo Tournament 2019 will be held from June 26 to July 1, being the 51st version of this festival that bears the name of the teacher and composer Miguel Ángel Martín . During these days the harp, el cuatro and the maracas will fill every corner of the plains with music and flavor, giving life to one of the biggest festivals in this region of the country. The Joropo Festival

Joropódromo

The Jorpodromo is one of the biggest events of the International Joropo Tournament and the most anticipated one. It is a parade where more than three thousand dance couples show their routine throughout the route.

International Joropo Reign

And as every fair and party in Colombia has its reign, the Joropo Festival is not far behind and two decades ago it included this event in the main tournament. This reign is open to all the queens of the different departments of Colombia and  other countries, however, in addition to beauty, charisma and sympathy, the aspirants to the crown must demonstrate knowledge in folklore and local traditions.

Ride

The eastern plains are synonymous with equestrian culture, so this activity also has a space within the festival and is the famous and traditional parade of the International Joropo Tournament that runs through much of the city and in which the main protagonists are horses.

Gastronomic festival

Of course, any fair or party that is respected would be incomplete without the respective gastronomic show . In this delicious event of the Joropo Tournament you will find various typical dishes of the eastern plains such as the Llanero Rice, the Chigüiro, el Chigüiro, la Changua Cerrera y la Carne a la Perra, among others.

Concerts

Within the framework of the International Joropo Tournament 2019 , a series of concerts will be held in which great national and international artists such as Manuel Turizo, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Choquibtown, Jorge Celedón, Reynaldo Armas and many more will show.

Other activities

During the holidays of the Joropo Tournament there will be other types of activities that deepen knowledge in the llanera culture such as the Llanera Music Instrument Interpretation Contest and the Coleo Contest , which is the Llano Cultural Heritage. The annual tribute that this flat will be made to Walter Silva, composer, teacher and performer of the music and folklore llanero will also be held.
