Fiesta del Mar in Santa Marta, know everything there is to do

Las Fiesta del Mar, is the celebration of the  birthday of Santa Marta. For this year 2018, the festivities will go from July 24 to July 29, day in which Santa Marta celebrates its 493 years anniversary of having been founded by Rodrigo De Bastidas.

As everyone knows, every city and town in the world has its own festivals, fairs, festivals or carnivals, which is  the ideal time to get to know other aspects of the local culture, such as typical dances, legends and music, food, among others , surrounded by an atmosphere of celebration felt and lived throughout the city.

Sea of Candles

For the first time in the history of the Festival of the Sea , six countries join to the celebration with the arrival of ships of different National Armed Schools from Mexico, Chile, Portugal, Brazil , Peru and Colombia who will dress the seas of Santa Marta by marching through.

Each of these Ships are considered as badges of their countries and are full of stories. They will be open to the public so it is an excellent plan for all those in love with the sea.

Gastronomic festival

If you are a lover of good cocine , then you can not miss this event. Santa Marta has not only restaurants that offer all the typical dishes of the region , but also restaurants with international food , so in this event you will find the richest food of the most prestigious restaurants in the city at a great price .

For this edition will be present Colombian chefs Carlos Gaviria and Juan Manuel Barrientos, Italian chef Franco Basile and Spanish Dany Meroño who will be giving talks and cooking classes.

Festival de Juglares Vallenatos

The Festival Juglar vallenato is an event that seeks to highlight, safeguard and value the Vallenato as a cultural expression and the identity of the Caribbean Region . This year we will pay tribut to the three times Rey Vallenato, Alfredo Gutiérrez , great composer recognized not only nationally, but also internationally.

If you are visiting the city and want to know more about this musical genre and enjoy a live show, you can not miss this event.
