Day 1
Encounter with the Jungle
This adventure will begin at the Vásquez Cobo Airport in the city of Leticia, where we will transfer to the Mundo Amazónico ecological park and have our first jungle encounter. We will get to know the ecological trails of medicinal plants, an aquarium, natural products, and the cultural village. Later, we will embark on a hike to the Ziora Amena indigenous community, where we will visit the maloca and be taught the art of traditional ceramics. We will end with a night hike and dinner in our cabin.
Day 2
Exploring the Peruvian jungle.
We will travel by canoe from the port of Leticia, crossing the great Amazon River, to the Marasha Nature Reserve in Peru. The trip will take approximately one hour and will allow us to observe a wide variety of fauna, flora, and artisanal fishing. We will also take a canoe ride on the lake, where we may spot black caimans, and we will also kayak. During the evening, we will participate in the aromas and sounds of the jungle activity. Tonight, we will sleep in malokas on the shores of the great lake.
Day 3
The magic of the Great Amazon River
On this third day we will visit the community of Mocagua and the Maicuchiga Foundation, a primate rehabilitation center. Later, we will take a boat tour of the Tarapoto lakes, where there is a great chance of observing pink and gray dolphins. (During August, September, and October, the river water level drops considerably, making it very difficult to enter the lakes. In this case, we have alternatives for dolphin watching.)
Day 4
Return Home
We'll begin the day with a delicious breakfast at the hotel, enjoying the comfort of our accommodations. Then, we'll return to Leticia by speedboat, experiencing the unique sights and sounds of the Amazon region.
The rest of the day will be free to explore the local culture or simply relax. Depending on our flight time, we will be transferred to the airport to conclude this delightful experience in this magical place.
NOTE: This itinerary may be modified due to weather conditions, foundation closures, or other events. We will review alternative visits if this occurs.
