The Accordion Cradle Festival is just one of the hundreds of fairs and parties that are held in Colombia throughout the year. Each one of them, destined to keep alive the cultural heritage of the towns, cities and cultural inheritances that make up this immense and rich country. This is what the Accordion Cradle Festival has been doing for four decades and this 2019 reaches version 41.

When is the Accordion Cradle Festival?

The Accordion Cradle Festival 2019 in its version 41 will be held from September 19 until the 22 of the same month in the municipality of Villanueva in La Guajira.

What is it about?

The Accordion Cradle Festival is a contest of vallenata music ; although I'm sure that is already clear from the name, which is looking for keep alive and publicize one of the strongest cultural symbols of Colombia, which is also Intangible Heritage of Humanity by Unesco since 2015. In 2016 the Accordion Cradle Festival was declared Cultural and Artistic Heritage of Colombia.

What to do in the Accordion Cradle Festival?

As usual, in the programming of the Cradle Festival of Accordions 2019 many scenarios are included to celebrate the competitions that give life to these vallenata music festivals . At the end of the festival, the kings of the festival will be chosen in each of the categories defined both in singing and in the performance of the accordion. In these competitions hundreds of people will compete to compete for the titles of the accordion king in a professional, amateur, youth and children's way, as well as the unpublished song King and professional piquera king.

In addition to the contests there will also be talks, parades and concerts with national and international guests.
