Located in the heart of the Serranía de la Macarena, in the Meta department of Colombia, exploring Caño Cristales is more than an adventure; it is a unique opportunity to experience the magic of nature at its fullest. Day 1
Arrival in La Macarena.
We will pick you up at La Macarena airport and transfer you to the hotel, where you will settle in before heading straight to our first adventure. We will visit Caño Cristalito, a small river with crystal-clear waters and natural pools perfect for relaxation. There, we will have lunch and enjoy the place for the entire afternoon, before returning to La Macarena. We conclude the day with dinner and rest at our assigned hotel.
Day 2
Discovering Caño Cristales.
After enjoying a delicious breakfast, we will embark on a 4x4 journey to the entrance of Caño Cristales. From there, we will start our hike along one of the trails designated by National Parks. We will have the opportunity to enjoy various attractions such as Los Hoyos, the pianos, the tourist pool, the Cuarzos, and the Danta passage. We can snorkel in the natural pools, take wonderful photos of the place, and have lunch on-site. In the afternoon, we will return to La Macarena for dinner and rest at our hotel.
Day 3
Exploring the Laguna del Silencio.
After breakfast, we will take a boat ride along the Guayabero River for approximately 45 minutes to reach Vereda La Cachivera, where we will board a "potrillo" (traditional canoe). We will paddle through its calm waters to observe all the flora and fauna of the area, have lunch on a nearby farm, enjoy the place, birdwatch, and finally return to La Macarena in the afternoon for dinner and rest.
Day 4
Visit to Pailones - Caño Cristales trail.
On this day, after having breakfast, we will head to the Inderena port to take a boat that will navigate the Guayabero River for about 45 minutes. Our final destination is the Pailones sector, where the Macarenias (plants that give color to the water) have an emerald green hue. We will enjoy the place, take spectacular photos, indulge in recreational swims, and observe the flora and fauna of the area. In the afternoon, we will return to La Macarena for dinner and rest.
Day 5
Visit to Bajo Losada.
After breakfast, we will depart early for a hike to the Inderena port, where we will take a boat that will cruise the Guayabero River for approximately 30 minutes to the mouth of the Losada River. There, we will try to spot freshwater dolphins and observe the characteristic flora and fauna of the Serranía de la Macarena, such as birds, turtles, and crocodiles. We conclude the tour by returning to La Macarena to wrap up the adventure.

- Yellow fever vaccine is recommended (not mandatory).
- Be prepared for rain: it may rain, so don't forget your raincoat.
- Bring your reusable water bottle or camelback. Disposable plastics are not allowed in Caño Cristales.
- Wear clothing that protects you from the sun. The use of sunscreen is not allowed.
- Bring repellent, creams, etc., that may alter the ecosystem and harm plants.
- Wear sturdy shoes for walking, preferably covering your ankles, as sandals or flip-flops are not allowed on the trails.
- Hotels in La Macarena do not have hot water; shower water is at room temperature.
- In La Macarena, there is only a Bancolombia correspondent bank and a Banco Agrario branch. Still, we recommend bringing cash.
- Phone signal is scarce; the only operator that works (intermittently) is Claro.
- Children under 5 years old are not allowed entry; the ideal age for a child to undertake the tour is 10 years old.
